I'm here at work today, so obviously I didn't win the lottery. Somebody did, though. Lucky ass.

Back to reality. My daugher has started saying real words. Last night she very distinctly said "bubbles" and "thank you" (which sounded a lot like "tunk foo"). The day before she said "jacket" and "outside" and "down" as in, get me the hell DOWN from this highchair. Her vocabulary has simply exploded the past few weeks. It's an amazing thing to witness. She's also learning sign language at her daycare, which she's picking up quickly, her teacher tells me. Kids are fascinating creatures.

The baby that my co-worker and husband were adopting has finally been born. A slight miscalculation of the due date, but the little angel is finally here. We had a baby shower for her on Wednesday. It was something else. This woman has, for years and years, thrown baby showers for dozens of other women in this office. All the while, trying to have her own child, unsuccessfully. Imagine the response of the people in this company when she was finally able to adopt the baby she's been wanting for so long. You've never seen so many gifts. There wasn't even time for her and her husband to open them all. They'll be opening gifts for days. It was quite spectacular. And that baby. She's absolutely beautiful. The two parents could not be prouder or happier.

Thank you to the people who have signed my guestbook. It's nice to see who drops in every once in a while. Remember, folks: you don't have to write something witty, kind, or flattering (though I appreciate it!). All you have to do is let me know you were here! Tunk foo.
